Yay, organic and fair trade ice cream!!! We serve ice cream that is completely free of any artificial flavors, colors, additives and preservatives. (You may be sad our mint ice cream isn't green - but you can find comfort in its phenomenal taste). Anything added to our ice cream is free of pesticides, herbicides and other harmful chemicals. Our dairy ice ream comes from Three Twins Ice Cream and uses dairy from grass fed cows that are not given hormones. And best of all, the dairy cows live on a small, family owned dairy where they can graze on open pastures. All of our soy based vegan ice cream comes from Chicago Soy Dairy, who uses soy grown in the United States mid-west, free of gmos and chemicals. We buy our milk, soy milk and other products from socially responsible companies with solid track records for both human and animal welfare. Happies for everyone!

Coffee
Right about now, you might find yourself asking, “Fair trade coffee? What does that even mean?” Well, no need to google it, we have the answer! Fair trade certification ensures producers in developing countries are offered better working standards and compensation for their labor.
Typically, the market for goods such coffee, vanilla, sugar, tea and cocoa is ripe with exploitation. “Fair Trade” helps promote higher social and environmental standards.
Our coffee is Organic, Fair Trade certified and roasted locally, right here in Gainesville by Sweetwater Coffee Roasters! Our daily Deep Roots blend is a sophisticated blend of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Full City & Brazil PoÇo Fundo Viennese Roast. Dark and delicious, try it hot or iced!
Our loose leaf teas come from certified organic and fair trade farms. Pure, organic teas are important not just for the quality of flavor, but because there’s nothing in between you and your tea. What goes on your tea leaf, goes directly into your body - why not keep it as pure as possible?
We offer 22 different varieties of single leaf or special blend loose leaf teas. Rumor has it we make the best Chai in town. Our "Traditional Indian Chai" is made over the stovetop with hot milk and traditional chai spices brought all the way from India by Payal's parents. You couldn't get any more authentic if you tried.

Karma Cream is the brainchild of UF graduates and BFFs Kyle Fick and Payal Patel. Both graduated with a degree in political science and both decided not to use it. You could say it was sad to see two promising young people lack the motivation to pursue a professional career. But, you could also argue the world is a better place for desserts because of it!
It all started in 2007 with a family outing to an ice cream store in Orlando. Half of the family was vegan and half ate dairy. This meant the vegan half would have to sit and watch the dairy half eat dessert and laugh with joy while they got NOTHING. Unfortunately/fortunately, the ice cream store was closed. As the family sat in the car looking through the darkened store windows, a simple question was asked, "Why isn't there a place where vegans and non-vegans can go to eat dessert and hang out?" Easy question, no answer.
So, Payal and Kyle came up with a solution. They would open their own vegan friendly dessert shop in Gainesville. They would build their store from scratch- making it a reflection of their own personal values. And so came about the idea for an organic and fair trade, socially conscious, vegan friendly café.
Driving around Gainesville, Payal and Kyle happened upon a spot that was dreadful but in an excellent location. So they crossed their fingers, said, "We'll fix it up!" and started to move in. Things were coming together except for a name. Payal and Kyle sat down and said, "Ok, we seriously need to think of a name." Kyle shouted, "Karma Cream!" Payal said, "You're an idiot." When they couldn't think of anything better, Karma Cream won.
A painful, stressful, frustrating, blood, sweat and tear filled year later (which has now been blocked from both their memories) Karma Cream opened for business in April, 2009. It could not have been done without the support and free labor of their loving families. And Karma Cream would not have made it for two years without the continued support and love from our community!
